From 1 March Arriva PCC commenced passenger services serving Grudziadz – Kwidzyn – Malbork. A number of the trains run directly from Torun to Malbork. On the Grudziadz – Kwidzyn section passenger services had been suspended for over a year. Track maintenance works carried out on this line have now enabled journey time to be reduced from 1 hour 2 minutes to 45 minutes.
The service will be operated by 8 trains on weekdays and 5 trains on weekends and bank holidays. The new service is being supported financially by the provincial governor’s administration offices of Kujavia and Pomerania. Governor, Piotr Calbecki, has plans also to restore passenger train services to the Bydgoszcz – Szubin – Kcynia line and would like to run tourist trains from Torun to Brodnica.
Meanwhile Arriva PCC has announced that it would like to run services on weekends from Torun or Bydgoszcz, via Koscierzyna and Gdynia, to the seaside resort of Hel.
